Fresh caravan onslaught at Gold Coast show

Fledgling retro van manufacturer Goldy is set to display a "never before seen" 19-foot family model at a big Gold Coast caravan show in early-March.

Goldy hit the scene less than two years ago with its first 16ft retro couple's caravan, and is advertising a bigger 19ft Coastal Cruiser tandem axle model on its website, but with few details apart from a computer sketch.

The fledgling Gold Coast based caravan builder will be among 125 exhibitors at the 2024 Let's Go Gold Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo, to be held at Heritage Bank Stadium from March 1-3.

According to show organiser Caravanning Queensland, also making its show debut at the Gold Coast event is a Melbourne-built custom made Trailblazer "with unique colour selections and a self-sufficient lithium battery system".

While Melbourne-based Majestic caravans which until recently also built Coromal caravans, is set to debut a new range of Sunfinder all-terrain/outback series caravans.

Teardrop camper newbie, the Brisbane built Jag camper, will also be an exhibitor at the Queensland show, as will MDC with its latest 2024 model off-grid caravans and hybrids.

The first production version of the Australian built XRV pod camper priced from around $90,000, is also expected to make its show debut on the Mountain Trail RV stand.

Aside from the product displays, the Gold Coast Expo will offer free daily caravan masterclasses run by Jeff Palmer (Tow-Ed QLD), Gary Gardiner (Total Towing Setups), and Dave Lewis (Weightcheck QLD). A land train and rock climbing wall will be among the free kids' entertainment.

A CIL Insurance prize pack worth $1495 and a $5000 cash prize are also up for grabs.
