Yet another business is hoping to tap into growing interest in RV travel and the social media 'vanlife' craze, with NSW tiny home builder Hauslein recently dipping its toes into the campervan market with a unique Peugeot Boxer camper conversion.
Currently advertised at $126,500, the first Hauslein campervan borrows the popular 'coastal chic' all timber interior look used in many of the trailerable tiny homes built by the Port Macquarie-based manufacturer.
Aimed at the 'work from anywhere' crowd, the LPG gas-free camper also retains a deliberate 'stealth' all-white delivery van look, designed not to attract unwanted attention when free camping.
"These vans are built to order and are specifically designed and built to be a stealth camper," the company says. "Certain components such as air-conditioning and power inlet have been installed in such a way that it does not give any indication of the van being a camper."
It's more country cottage inside though, with the mostly timber fit-out featuring solid cypress pine for the roof, floor and benchtops, Rhino ply for the cabinetry and whitewashed Baltic pine for the lining boards.
Off-grid camping capabilities extend to a 135aH lithium battery system with 1200W inverter and 300W rooftop solar, along with 80 litre fresh water and 40 litre grey water tanks.
The inside kitchen gets a grey, domestic-style sink and matching mixer tap, a 65 litre fridge/freezer, 900W microwave and a metho cooktop, with a two-person dinette for mealtimes or for use as a mobile workstation.
Comfort features include an RV air-conditioner and diesel hot water heater, with a chemical toilet and outside showers using the retractable kitchen sink tap.
The Peugeot camper also features a curtained walk-through from the front cab, custom curtains and blinds, an opening side window with flyscreen, rear garage area and drawer, and a fixed east-bed double bed at the rear, with the option of opening up the barn-style rear doors for a scenic view from the comfort of bed.
Hauslein Tiny House Co. was established in 2018 and is only currently offering camper conversions on the front-wheel drive, Peugeot Boxer LWB commercial van, which comes standard with a 120kW/310Nm, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and six-speed manual transmission. The 6.0m long van offers up to 2.0m standing room inside.
