The Australian Caravan Club (ACC) has opened its first ‘farm stay’ for its members, not far from Devonport on Tasmania’s north coast.
The ACC Farm Stay Scheme is similar to the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia’s RV Park initiative, in that it is only available to club members. However, rather than using spare Council land, the Caravan Club scheme takes advantage of the generosity of club members allowing other members to stay short periods and free of charge on their properties. "The ACC is delighted to welcome our very first Farm Stay in Tasmania," ACC Chaiman Craig Humphrey said. "The Burrong Farm Stay is sited only 30 minutes from the Spirit of Tasmania dock. I expect it will become a very highly sought after stopover for our members travelling to and from Tasmania.’
"The ACC is very grateful to Burrong Farm Stay hosts and ACC members Andrew and Karen Porter for opening up their property to fellow ACC members."’
The site is also relatively close to Cradle Mountain, while Mt Roland, Sheffield, Gunns Plains Caves and Leven Canyon are all less than an hour’s drive away.
Well-behaved pets are welcome at Burrong but facilities are limited to fresh water when available. However, the ACC says partcipants in the Farm Stay Scheme must abide by strict rules in place "based on the laws of the relevant authorities”.
