Some government authorities and caravanning bodies are doing their bit to help reduce the chance of caravanning accidents in the lead up to the busy Easter period.
The City of Wanneroo in Western Australia is offering residents a free check-up for their caravan or trailer on Saturday 6 April between 8am-12pm, at the City’s Ashby Operations Centre at 1204 Wanneroo Road in Ashby.
Volunteers from the City of Wanneroo RoadWise Working Group will be in attendance to inspect caravans and trailers to help ensure the vehicle is safe for towing.
During previous inspections, volunteers have reported finding various faults that could cause a road incident, including worn tyres and brakes, as well as suspension and electrical issues.
Caravanning Queensland has also been offering free caravan safety checks in the lead up to the busy Easter period, in Rockhampton and Redcliffe.

West Australian Road Safety Council Chairman Iain Cameron is urging motorists to ensure their vehicles and trailers are roadworthy before heading off on any trip this Easter.
“If you’re towing a load this Easter, please take the time to check it before you set off,” Cameron said.
“During previous holiday periods, WA Police Force officers have reported seeing caravans, trailers and loads that are unsecure and unroadworthy, so check your tyres, check your air pressure and make sure your load is safe.”
