Forma reinvents teardrop camper

Edgy new two-berth trailer designed for electric tow vehicles

If you think the award-winning Harvok monocoque steel caravan and Kerfton family camper are pretty cool design-wise, check out the latest compact two-berth camper trailer from European start-up Forma.

The Latvian-built Forma hard-walled camper trailer was displayed at the 2022 Caravan Salon in Germany and blends a few styling cues familiar from other eye-catching campers, like South Africa's Edgeout Teardrop and Australia's own BRS Sherpa.

According to the Forma Campers website the unique design makes the camper "compact but spacious at the same time", with its angled side panels darting out in different directions to create not only more room inside but a more modern, cutting-edge look on the road.

The Forma camper is constructed with a galvanized chassis and 30mm thick, insulated aluminum sandwich body panels, along with powdercoated steel wheel guards and a torsion axle suspension with shock absorbers, 16in alloy wheels and over-ride brakes.

While it has the traditional teardrop camper features of a cosy two-berth cabin and lift-up rear kitchen, it stands out at the campground with its over-sized side gullwing entry door that doubles as overhead cover when eating or relaxing outside.

The 4.0m long Euro camper can be towed by just about any runabout with a Tare weight of just 550kg and an ATM of 750kg.

The rear kitchen gets a sink and stainless steel worktop, along with some timber storage cabinetry, lights and electrical outlets, and there's room to add an optional fridge and stove. There's also a gap to pass food and drinks through to the cabin -- perfect for breakfast in bed!

It also comes standard with a 80Ah 12V battery, with the option to add a bigger battery and inverter, plus a solar panel on the rear door.

Inside, there's a variety of electrical sockets, a roof vent and white/red LED lighting, along with a small drop-down table that forms part of the Baltic Birch plywood cabinetry along the rear wall and at the base of the 140cm x 200cm bed.

Other options available include a diesel heater, Bluetooth stereo, front utility box, roof rack and GPS tracker.

European pricing for the eye-catching Forma camper starts at €16,900 (around AUD$25,000).
