Travellers from Adelaide, Cairns and Innisfail are celebrating winning the ‘road trip of a lifetime’ after being named the 2016 Dometic Follow the Sun ambassadors.
Adelaide travel writers Grant Hanan and Linda Bloffwitch won the major prize of a $25,000 Dometic makeover of their 2009 Traveller Sensation caravan, while the McKay family of Innisfail, Queensland, receive a similar makeover of their 2008 Jayco Sterling caravan before hitting the road later this year for 13 weeks of expenses-paid adventures.
The third winner, 47-year old ‘AdventureMumma’ Kate Richards from Cairns, has also won a 13-week road trip driving a Ford Everest towing the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) Pink Minnie Caravan.
The Cairns resident, who will be travelling with her family of four, also won $5000 of Dometic portable products and $10,000 in selected travel expenses.
Now in its fourth year, Dometic Australia’s ‘Follow the Sun’ competition gives three couples or families a three month expenses paid road trip around Australia, promoting the latest Dometic and Waeco camping products.
“These avid campers will become Dometic Australia’s Ambassadors on the trip of a lifetime as they visit some of Australia’s most amazing locations, while raising awareness and support for breast cancer research,” said Dometic Australia’s Head of Marketing Justine Schuller.
All three winners will be touring the country, hosting ‘Follow the Sun – Happy Hours’ at local caravan parks and updating followers on their travels through blogs and social media posts.
However this year, two additional ‘runner up’ prizes were also awarded at the official announcement at this year’s Queensland Caravan Show. Both breast cancer survivors, Bribie Island local, Peta Newcombe and Lithgow resident, Heather Bell and their husbands will join the adventure for a month, travelling in Dometic’s promotional motorhome.
The 2016 Follow the Sun winners will set off on their travels during August, September and October 2016.
