It's a year later than expected, but a ritzy new holiday and RV resort catering to cashed-up RV travellers has finally opened in the sunny Victorian riverside town of Mildura.
Developed by motor racing champ Rick Kelly and his father, John Kelly, the new Trentham Waters Resort Mildura is being promoted as a "Palm Springs inspired oasis", with "desert minimalist" luxury villas, a 48m lagoon pool, splash park, spa, gym, tennis courts, walking trails and a riverside hot tub.
There are plenty of lush grassy sites for caravans and motorhomes, including 70 drive-through, 10 pet friendly and 14 ensuite sites. However, they don't come cheap, with mid-week bookings currently starting at $83 a night for a 'classic' 7.5 x 23.5m powered site, rising to $99 for the largest 22.5 x 10m powered site.
You do get access to some of the cleanest, most modern facilities you'll find in any Aussie RV park though, including a fully equipped camp kitchen, BBQ and laundry facilities, and boutique hotel-style amenities that give the Forster Beach Holiday & Caravan Park a run for its money.
The 240 acre site runs alongside the Murray River, so it's also a good stopover for skiing, wakeboarding and fishing enthusiasts.
Also included in the development are plans for a 119-home, exclusive gated community called Trentham Waters Living.
