Fishing Tip: Soft plastics for beginners

Fishing advice provided by iFish TV

In my opinion, fishing with soft plastics is the biggest thing to happen in fishing since the invention of the hook.

It's so much fun, so effective and so good for fishing as you limit your bi-catch and hook 95 per cent of fish in the lip which makes for easy release. In saying all this, many anglers still struggle with the concept, have all the gear and still can't catch a fish.

Enter the humble flathead. As with all types of fishing, it's so important to target a species for best results. When it comes to fishing plastics I suggest you start with flathead.

They're generally easy to find, accessible to the majority of anglers and they respond extremely well to plastics. Give the flathead a go and you will be hooked forever. One of my favourite forms of fishing to this day is hunting big flathead on soft plastics. There is just something about them that rocks my boat.
