First Windsor motorhome breaks cover

New Renault-based Windsor Daintree motorhome from $105,990

Apollo will take the wraps off the first motorhome model in the Windsor brand’s 40-plus year history, at the Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow later this month.

Produced in the same Brisbane factory as Apollo-built Winnebago and Talvor motorhomes, as well as Coromal and Winnebago caravans, the new Windsor Daintree is an entry-level B-class motorhome that measures 6580mm long by 2331mm wide by 3110mm high, with a kerb weight of 3085kg and 3800kg GVM.

New Windsor Daintree will compete directly with 20ft Jayco Conquest

Its fibreglass composite motorhome body is built on the Renault Master cab-chassis, powered by the 110kW/250Nm 2.3-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with a six-speed automated manual transmission.

Along with a cab-over storage area, the internal floorplan includes a dinette/lounge with swivel table up front accessible from both the driver’s cabin and side entry door, with a centralised kitchen area and ensuite with separate shower and toilet at the rear.

Sleeping is on a drop-down queen bed

Sleeping is on an east-west (1900mm x 1340mm) queen bed that drops electrically from the ceiling over the lounge/dinette when required.

Externally, the Windsor Daintree comes standard with a wind-out awning, 9kg gas bottle, gas bayonet, fold-down picnic table, reversing camera, external hot/cold shower, 150W solar panel, roof hatch and TV antenna, while internal appliances include a roof-top air-conditioner, hot water unit, stereo/Bluetooth audio, 24in TV/DVD, four-burner stove/grille, microwave and 188 litre fridge/freezer.

Kitchen is well equipped with cooking and cooling appliances

Also included as standard are 110 litre (fresh) and 55 litre (grey) water tanks, and a 100Ah deep cycle battery with 25amp charger and solar regulator.

Priced from $105,990, the Windsor Daintree costs $1000 more than Jayco’s 90mm shorter 20ft Conquest  motorhome, which is also based on the front-drive Renault Master platform and offers a similar layout and specifications to the Daintree.

Rear ensuite includes separate shower and toilet

The Daintree motorhome is the second new Windsor model launched by Apollo since the Australian RV giant bought the Coromal and Windsor brands in 2018, and follows the release of the new Windsor Genesis caravan range last year.

For a period of more than 40 years from the mid-1970s, the Windsor name adorned a variety of caravans, pop-tops, camper trailers and hybrids built initially in Melbourne and then Perth. The Brisbane-built Daintree is the third of 12 new Windsor models that Apollo plans to roll out in 2020.
