First RV rental business awarded RVMAP accreditation

Cruisin' Motorhomes is the first rental motorhome operator in Australia to get the RVMAP 'seal of approval'.

Normally only given to retail-focussed RV manufacturers and importers for achieving a high standard of compliance, Cruisin' Motorhomes is also the first Tasmania-based manufacturer in the 14-year old voluntary accreditation program run by Caravan Industry Association of Australia.

“We don’t view RVMAP as simply another accreditation or logo,” said Cruisin’ Motorhomes' Hobart based Office Manager Melanie Lucas.

“It provides a recognised framework that encourages manufacturers to regularly review their systems, document their processes and maintain consistent standards.”

To be able to display the RVMAP accreditation badge, businesses must commit to producing vehicles that meet Australian Design Rules and Federal Compliance Regulations.

Melanie said joining RVMAP was a “natural next step” for Cruisin’ Motorhomes which started with just five Winnebago motorhomes 25 years ago and now runs a national fleet of over 700 rental vehicles, operating out of depots in Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and Perth.

Cruisin' still buys vehicles from big Sydney motorhome specialist Avida, but it’s also become an approved second stage manufacturer, designing and building its own campervan range in Hobart.

“Becoming a second stage manufacturer required us to make a significant investment in our manufacturing systems, quality controls and internal processes,” she explained.

“RVMAP complements that work and provides another level of structure and accountability.”
