It's official!
The first caravan from Sydney's Cub Campers has finally hit the showrooms after weeks of rumours...
Not only is it the first caravan from Cub in its 54 years of local manufacturing, the all-new single axle C16 hybrid tourer is the most expensive model to ever leave Cub's Sydney factory with a price tag of $129,990.
For that you get most of the features you'd expect in a premium, Australian-built, fixed-roof, compact off-road tourer, including a 'timber-free' composite body mounted on a galvanised chassis, with off-road coupling and independent trailing arm suspension, 12 inch electric brakes and 17in alloy wheels and mud tyres.
The 2000kg Tare/2700kg ATM, 2.3m wide and 3.0m tall, 16ft caravan is also set up for off-grid camping, with four 180 watt rooftop solar panels feeding into two 200 amp-hour lithium batteries, plus two 100-litre fresh water tanks and a 100-litre grey water tank. However, you'll need to pay more for the optional 3000W inverter.
Also standard is a diesel space heater and a rooftop air-conditioner, for year-round climate controlled living in an inviting two-berth layout that includes a pillowtop king bed, twin-table leatherette dinette and combination shower/toilet, along with an inside and outside kitchen.
A 27in Smart TV, four-speaker Fusion stereo, Redarc Redvision control panel and a Wi-Fi 4GX mobile router modem are also part of the standard package.
Cub Campers said the new C16 off-road caravan is the result of "almost two years of intense research and development".
"Our goal for the C16 was to build a high-end studio apartment on wheels -
perfect for the adventurous Australian couple who love to rough it during the day but aren’t afraid to admit that relaxation is essential once the sun goes down," the Sydney manufacturer said.
Like other Cub campers, the C16 caravan is fully designed, tested and manufactured in Australia.
"Built with exceptionally high-quality Australian products, such as Australian Bluescope Steel and Worthington Complite panels, customers can be confident in the quality and relentless reliability everyone has come to expect from Cub Campers," the company said.
