As one of the biggest suppliers of 4WD and off-road accessories, ARB has long been closely associated with the camping and caravanning industries.
The close to 50-year-old Australian company makes and supplies a range of products designed to make camping trips more comfortable, from swags and rooftop-tents to portable fridges and slide-out kitchens.
ARB and some of its retail outlets have also teamed up in recent years with a number of local RV manufacturers, with the likes of ute-mounted camping canopies and special-edition pop-top off-road camper trailers.
Now it appears that ARB is about to release its very own camper trailer model, with the company currently counting down on its official website as well as on social media to the launch of a major new product.
ARB announced online about a week ago that "Something big is coming" and has been releasing 'daily clue drops' or teasers which so far have included 'Heart of every home', 'Recharge your batteries' and 'Roof over your head'.
According to the ROVER (Road Vehicle Regulator) website that covers the list of approvals under the new Road Vehicles Standards Act (RVSA), ARB Corporation has also received Type approval under the TB - Light Trailer category for a model listed as an 'Off Road Camper'.
The ARB off-road camper is listed as fully compliant under the latest Australian Design Rules since November 2022, with Melbourne-based ARB Product Development Engineer and former Holden technical designer and HSV Senior Project Engineer, Andrew Reed, named as the contact for the ARB camper on the ROVER website.
Caravancampingsales has also heard reports of a 'small teardrop' or compact 'Tvan-style' camper trailer believed to be owned by ARB, being towed or tested around the outer-eastern Melbourne suburbs.
ARB's head office is located in the outer eastern Melbourne suburb of Kilsyth, and it has manufacturing facilities at its Melbourne headquarters as well as in another factory in Thailand that could be tooled up to produce a new camper.
According to an article published in 2020, it employs around 60 engineers to help with the design and development of new products, and has around 60 stores in Australia as well as retail outlets in another 100 or so other countries, with floorspace that could be used to display and promote a new camper trailer.
When asked about a future launch of an ARB camper trailer, a spokesperson from ARB's Melbourne head office told caravancampingsales that the company doesn't comment on future product releases.
"In regards to the product we're releasing this week that obviously hasn't been announced yet so there's nothing we can share at this point in time," the spokesperson said.
However, caravancampingsales was told that the online launch for the major new product would take place on Sunday night (June 2) around 7pm. The new ARB product will also be on display at the National 4x4 Outdoors Show at the Melbourne Showgrounds from August 18-20.
