Trakka revealed its new, most sporty range-topping Trakkadu last week at the Sydney Caravan Expo with the Trakka Trakkadu 450 S.
Based on the Volkswagen Transporter TDI 450 LWB 4MOTION and expected to arrive in March next year, the speedy campervan employs the Volkswagen T6’s most powerful 150kW/450Nm bi-turbo diesel four-cylinder engine, linked to a seven-speed DSG transmission.
The 450 S puts its power to the ground with Volkswagen’s 4-Motion all-wheel drive system, making it a handy vehicle on slippery surfaces.
Pricing for the Trakkadu 450 S starts from $135,000 (drive-away, NSW) putting it at the top of the Trakkadu range, above the Trakkadu AT ($125,000 drive away).
For that sort of money, the top-spec 450 S will be filled to the gills with the latest tech including a diesel-powered ceramic cooktop, a 125A/h lithium house battery, 15amp 240 volt five-stage lithium charger and 25Amp DC-DC and solar five-stage lithium charger, digital monitoring of electrical and water systems including a smart phone app for monitoring the house battery, 12V outlet & USB charging points.
Of course, for powered sites the 450 S also has a 240V inlet to power the system.
Also fitted as standard is a 55-litre fresh-water tank, 30-litre grey water tank with electronic dump valve, a hot water system and rear shower and a 78-litre fridge and freezer.
Outside living is enhanced with the powered side roll-out awning, dimmable LED exterior strip light and indoor/outdoor table.
With its diesel cooktop and the 12v/240v fridge, there's no need for LPG in the vehicle.
Trakkadu 450 S options available including European leather upholstery ($2600), metallic paint ($2600), different roof colours, such as anthracite as seen on the show vehicle ($500), diesel room heater ($2490), roof bed with gas strut assisted lift ($1100), electric sliding side door ($1400) and tow bar and electrics ($1400).
Production won’t start until March, with Trakka boss Dave Berry saying that’s the next production slot available at Trakka’s Mt Kuring-Gai NSW factory.
