Is it a houseboat, a tiny house or new type of floating caravan?
According to its Queensland designers, the Fargo Elite Cabin is “an unsinkable and virtually indestructible, go-anywhere vessel on both land and water”.
The Fargo 7500 is the brainchild of Michael Bennett, who runs Sunshine Coast-based, luxury fibreglass boat manufacturer Quantum Cat Marine.

“Equally at home on land or water, the Fargo Elite Cabin is a fully self contained accommodation unit perfect for cruising the waterways, exploring the open roads on a trailer or truck, or even as a spare room or private rental in your own backyard,” he explains on the Fargo Cabins website.
“The hulls on the house boat model are a composite catamaran design - the result of a number of years of hull testing to optimise strength, rigidity, planing surfaces, ride and comfort and fuel efficiency."
There's also a tandem axle ‘caravan’ version of the Fargo, along with an Iveco-based Fargo motorhome. Both caravan and houseboat feature sleek composite construction with the option of front and rear entry doors with decks and windows all round.

The non-floating Fargo rides on a tandem axle trailer with hydraulic brakes, while the floating version imounts on ‘unsinkable’ foam filled catamaran hulls.
The Fargo 7500 boasts 12.5 square metres of cabin space and over 1000 litres of underfloor storage, and the interior layout is fully customizable to suit buyer’s requirements. Tare weight is around the 1800-1900kg mark.
“It can be completed to any stage for you and multiple configuration options are available, including a kitchenette, shower and portable toilet, convertible double bed, windows and doors, front and rear decks with or without teak Seadek, stainless steel railings and underfloor tanks,” he says.

The houseboat model is powered by a 20-90hp outboard motor (not included) and can be transported locally by trailer or worldwide by 40ft container.
Prices start at $38,995 (cabin only), ex-Brisbane factory. See the website for more info.
