Former stars of popular TV show The Block, Michael and Carlene Duffy, are auctioning off their latest vintage van restoration, a 12ft Franklin nicknamed Bumblebee.
“She’s our fourth vintage van renovation but this time, rather than enjoy her, she’s going straight up for auction,” the hands-on couple say on their interior decoration website Cedar + Suede.
Like other restorations they’ve completed including the 1960s Viscount nicknamed Vonnie and another big tandem axle 1970s Viscount family van dubbed Dolly, the TV celebs stripped the old Franklin inside and out, before applying new exterior paint and decking out the interior with new oak and rattan furniture, vintage brass taps, hanging feature lights and floral furnishings inspired by the latest home interior décor trends.
The spruced up Franklin features a compact layout that includes a four-person dinette, kitchenette, full-height wardrobe and an east-west double bed, and has also been upgraded with a few modern conveniences including a 90 litre fridge, two burner gas cooktop, and coil-spring mattress.
The caravan-mad couple are currently taking offers for the vintage van via their website, while the van is also listed to go under the hammer at a real estate auction due to take place in New Farm, Brisbane on March 26.
