Everest Camo goes into battle

Now fledgling Campbellfield, Victorian caravan manufacturer Everest has given its latest off-road caravan the 'Army Surplus' look with the recent release of its 2020-model 18ft single axle Camo off-road model.

The custom-built 18ft family bunk van packs a punch with off-road gear including trailing arm suspension, DO-35 coupling and checker plate body armour, along with plenty of water and battery storage capacity.

Inside, the apartment-style layout includes a 'master bedroom' up front with east-west queen bed and split shower and toilet, separated from the central 'living area' with kitchen and L-shaped lounge, and two bunks along the rear wall.

But it's the unique 'Camo' aluminiium cladding that sets the latest Everest model apart, with Everest Caravans claiming it's an 'Australian first' for the pattern to be printed into the glossy ribbed aluminium rather than using stick-on decals.

"It just looks amazing. You're going to have some heads turning when you roll up to a campsite with this," Everest said in a promotional video.

Like the bigger Everest 22ft 8in Glider, the custom-built Camo is jam-packed with external and internal features, including slide-out external kitchen, bike racks, roof-top air-conditioner, 20in TV and 141 litre slimline fridge.

Like the Glider, there are more than a few 'party tricks', from 'anti bug' external lights to its unique 'earthly' decor.

Weighing in at 2380kg (Tare) and with pricing starting around $63,000 depending on options fitted, the  first Everest Camo was handed over to its new owner just prior to Christmas.
