Escape in your own state

We could all do with a break right now

Hitching the caravan or packing the campervan and hitting the highway is a perfect way to escape the uncertainty of heavily populated areas and any threats associated with the Coronavirus pandemic for older couples and retirees.

Sure, there may be some restrictions in place that prevent grey nomads from achieving their grand plans of circumnavigating the entire country at the moment, but in most cases it certainly doesn’t put a stop on the ability to go touring around your own state or territory.

Okay, Busselton might not be the same as Bundaberg and Mt Gambier is at least a little different to Mackay – but consider the current climate as simply a chance to refocus any touring holidays. It’s an opportunity to see more of what’s immediately in front of you rather than what’s too far away, even if it’s only for a week or simply a long weekend.

Undeniably, your personal health and that of the greater community is of upmost importance right now, so when arranging plans to travel make sure you’ve tested negative for COVID-19 before leaving and research the risk associated with any region you intend to visit.

Ensure other family members and close friends are aware of your itinerary too, and that you can be contacted regularly.

Holiday escapes for all situations

No matter how – and where – you intend to travel, BIG4 Holiday Parks has you covered. With more than 170 parks in the best locations around the country, Australia’s favourite holiday park network has been delivering comfortable, friendly and affordable breaks for more than 40 years.

All of its parks can, of course, cater for traditional caravans and campervans but they also offer myriad of on-site accommodation options, from luxurious glamping set-ups to fully appointed self-contained units, cabins and apartments.

The parks themselves are renowned for their excellent customer service, quality amenities and beautifully manicured gardens and grounds. Most have convenient facilities such as cooking and activity areas, wi-fi access and groceries as well as essentials for camping, fishing and boating.

Some even have their own walking tracks and organised community events.

All BIG4 holiday parks are operated by friendly staff, which can provide information on local destinations and events as well as booking activities and attractions. And many BIG4 destinations are dog-friendly, allowing you to bring four-legged family members on vacation, and therefore saving them from any distress – and you the cost – of a kennel.

Becoming a BIG4 member provides additional benefits, including at least a 10 per cent discount on all bookings, exclusive holiday offers, in-park perks such as early check-in and late check-outs and special member-only benefits from partners, including Nissan. Membership costs $50 for 24 months.

Don’t let the current climate keep you – and the caravan or campervan – from standing still. With BIG4 Holiday Parks, getting out of town is a great idea.
