Boutique West Australian off-road caravan builder Elross has joined the dark side, with the release of a new all-black Stealth edition ECX-R 17ft hybrid off-grid model.
As well as a striking 'Midnight' exterior colour scheme in contrast to Elross' more familiar white body panels, the new narrow-body 17ft hybrid van gets the full 'R-rated' package fitted to some other Elross models including top-spec Cruisemaster airbag suspension, extensive chassis and body armour and plenty of off-grid power and water capacity.
Like Elross' other Outback-ready vans, the new 17ft hybrid with comfortable couple's ensuite layout boasts a "tough and thermally efficient" 50mm EPS polystyrene and Colourbond steel composite body, together with a Raptor coated steel chassis, full underbody protection and Cruisemaster ATX Airbag Level 3 wireless suspension with 12in electric drum brakes, 18in alloys and all terrain tyres.
The new Elross Stealth ECX-R17 also comes standard with a composting toilet and the in-house developed Guzzle H20 water purification and UV sterilization system, and up to 365L fresh water capacity (270L standard) and a 95L grey tank.
For off-grid camping, there's 955W rooftop solar feeding a 600Ah lithium battery pack through a Redarc management system, that can run the on-board appliances including an air-conditioner, internal and external induction cooktops, 190L compressor fridge/freezer and a microwave.
Other standard features include a combination hot water and space heater and a front toolbox with 1425L storage, while options include a TV, washing machine, BBQ and Starlink internet set-up.
The 2650kg Tare/3500kg ATM 17ft hybrid caravan is the West Australian manufacturer's first full off-grid model with a narrower 2.1m wide body that will enable it to be towed further into the bush without damaging the sides of the van.
"The Elross ECX-R17 hybrid caravan is more than just a mode of travel; it's a masterpiece that harmoniously marries opulence with ruggedness," Elross Caravans Executive Director Declan O’Brien said.
O'Brien said the ECX-R17 Hybrid which has a starting price of $162,990 drive-away is "designed for the discerning adventurer seeking the pinnacle of luxury and durability; this off-road marvel embodies the spirit of exploration in every detail".
