Elite goes for pole position

Melbourne caravan manufacturer joins growing number of RV companies investing big dollars to rev up their image

Melbourne’s Elite Caravans is the latest RV manufacturer to sponsor a V8 Supercars team and derive the publicity benefits of a nationwide TV audience.

Coming on board for the 2014 season, Elite has its logo prominently displayed on the rear bumper of the two-car Pepsi Max Crew Ford racing cars contesting this year’s 13-round V8 Supercar championship.

Elite joins MightMite yeast extract spread as a silver tier sponsor of the factory Ford squad, which currently has lead driver Mark Winterbottom in fifth place overall in the Driver’s standings.

As part of the deal, Elite will supply caravans for the team to use at race meetings.

"We will provide more than just financial input to the team,” said Elite Caravans' owner Adrian Cappola. “Our partnership will supply FPR with caravans at the track for the team to discuss strategies and for the drivers to relax in, while also interacting with fans via exciting competitions."

Elite Caravans is also set to become neighbours with the race car team when it relocates 1.2km up the road from its current factory in Campbellfield to buildings located next to FPR’s Melbourne headquarters.

"(Moving next door to FPR) was not our main motivator to establish a great partnership with FPR," Cappola said. "We focus on innovation and attention to detail for success, the same attributes that FPR team exude, so I'm sure the partnership will be beneficial on and off the track for both parties.”

Meanwhile, 86-year-old Melbourne manufacturer Roma Caravans continues its love affair with fast cars as a major sponsor of the Team Jeld-Wen Ford driven by Jack Perkins in this year’s V8 Championship.

And as well as continuing to support Dick Johnson Racing in the V8 series, Melbourne’s New Age Caravans is investing serious marketing dollars in another iconic Australian sport – AFL football – as a sponsor of the Melbourne Demons.
