Melbourne’s Elite Caravans has boosted its arsenal of big, pricey family caravans with a new three-bunk version of its 23ft 6in Goulburn off-road model hitting the dealers' yards. Fitted with 4400kg-rated Cruisemaster XT airbag suspension and similarly rated Hitchmaster D045 off-road coupling, 16in alloy wheels with chunky Mickey Thompson tyres, checker plate body protection, and 190 litre fresh water storage, the 22ft 3in five-berth Goulburn 2230 FV van is geared up to take larger families on a big lap of Australia, as well as tackle some of Australia’s roughest roads.
As well as triple bunks, the spacious interior includes a north-south queen bed with pillowtop mattress, kitchen galley with four burner cooktop, stainless sink with filtered water, microwave, and 224 litre topical rated fridge/freezer, an L-shaped lounge/dinette and ensuite with fibreglass shower and separate swivel toilet.
Other internal features include a front load washing machine, Bluetooth stereo, rooftop air-conditioner, 24in LED TV/DVD, and gas/electric hot water system, while outside equipment extends to external speakers and shower, reverse camera, A-frame tap, TV ‘box’, picnic table, and awning.
To keep the appliances running when off the grid the family Goulburn comes equipped with a comprehensive 12V system including two 120Ah batteries, 30amp charger, and 150W solar panel.
The tandem axle van rides on a galvanised chassis with electric drum brakes, and is built with a traditional timber frame and stucco aluminium cladding.
