One of Queensland’s largest caravan retailers, Green RV, is expected to expand its product portfolio into electric-powered utes, light commercial and possibly leisure vehicles from 2024.
CEO Jack Green said Green RV and China’s New Gonow group – one of the largest EV manufacturers in China – has signed a memorandum of understanding to sell Chinese-built commercial vehicles in Australia.

Green said this venture could lead Green RV into a new generation of electric-powered RV models in the future, although initially the focus will be on commercial vehicles.
The New Gonow group has plans to expand into the Australian market as the world heads towards zero emissions. It currently is the manufacturer of popular caravan brands sold by Green RV in Australia such as Snowy River, Regent Caravans and Newgen Caravans.

Based in Tongxiang, Zhejiang, the New Gonow group is the third largest RV manufacturer in China with its facilities covering nearly 61 hectares.
It's principally engaged locally in the manufacture of trailers and in motorhome conversions, with its subsidiary in Australia (Regent Caravans) recently established in the industrial hub of South Dandenong, Melbourne.

In China, the New Gonow group is making investments in new technologies, production systems, and in the manufacturing of components involved in building electric commercial vehicles and has established a vehicle test centre and a research laboratory for this purpose.
A manufacturing plant is also under construction in Taizhou (Zhejiang),with a planned capacity of 90,000 electric-powered commercial vehicles per annum. Taizhou was also the headquarters of the old Gonow company.
Jack Green told caravancampingsales he's excited about the future of the new venture and a 2024 launch is currently being planned.
