Not satisfied with selling RVs to the locals, Queensland-based overland vehicle specialist EarthCruiser is making inroads in a number of international markets.
EarthCruiser recently signed a distribution deal with a large dealership in Mongolia, a rugged region not averse to the odd top-end, all-terrain motorhome. The Australian-designed and manufactured EarthCruiser is also sold internationally in other regions including North America, Britain, Spain, South Africa and Egypt.
Now EarthCruiser has struck a deal with Host industries of Bend, Oregon to manufacture its latest Outback Explorer and Adventurer light truck-based expedition grade campers for the US market.
A less extreme and more affordable version of the original EarthCruiser Expedition overland truck, the Outback is based on the proven Mitsubishi Fuso Canter 4x2 or 4x4 chassis, with 110kW/370Nm four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, and up to 14,050kg gross vehicle weight.
Priced from US$135,000 the campers can be retrofitted to an existing chassis as a DIY option, or provided as a removable module. The EarthCruiserExp has a starting price in Australia of around $215,000.
The Outback campers utilise EarthCruiser's kinetic mounting system for longer camper life and a more comfortable ride. The basic box section, all welded aluminium and fiberglass body incorporates two opposing lateral slides, one for the kitchen and the other for the dinette, and includes a range of amenities plus interior and exterior storage.
The slide-out kitchen features a pantry and other timber cabinetry, double bowl sink, three-burner cooktop, fridge/freezer and gas/electric hot water.
The U-shaped dinette converts to a single bed, while there’s also a separate double bed with innerspring mattress and bathroom/shower with separate toilet.
Other standard features on the Outback camper include 180 litre fresh water and 120 litre grey water tanks, 120aH AGM battery, and roof-mounted air-con, while options include a winch, bull bar, spot lamps, roof rack and reversing camera.
