Adria has sold more than 1000 caravans in Australia over the past eight years, but not one motorhome as yet.
But if the Slovenian brand, which celebrates 50 years of manufacturing in 2015, ever decides to sell any of its many motorhome models Down Under, we hope it’s as appealing as this one.
Looking like it belongs on a race track rather than in a caravan park, the Adria Twin SP Git ‘Black Sound’ took pride of place on the Adria stand at this year’s Caravan Salon Dusseldorf.
Contrasting sharply with its gloss black and carbon fibre accented body were red-painted roof bars, side stripes and racing car decals, red inserts around the front grille and headlights, and red/black 20in alloy wheels with low-profile Continental performance rubber. ??
The racing red theme continued inside the Fiat Ducato-based campervan, with more bright red highlights in the dash, seats, carpets, and overhead lockers, while the rear double bed was treated to special Black Sound insignia pillows, a red mattress cover and a red striped Grundig TV.
The piece de resistance, however, was the black gloss insert along the middle of the rooflining, filled with dozens of tiny LED lights for a starry sky effect. Just in case you still weren’t convinced, a picture of a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO hung above the dinette, which had a gloss black tabletop and black leather and cloth red seats.
The bling treatment also extended to a trick multi-media system including screens in the dash and back of the passenger seat’s head-rest.
Although the ‘race pack’ version is available as an option in Europe, it was more showpiece than volume seller, according to Adria, with a similarly bright orange show model from last year yet to find any takers.
