Dunny Buddy wins Best New Product award

A user-friendly new Aussie-made camping product designed for 'adventurous bums', has won a major trophy in the 2022 caravancampingsales Innovation Awards.

The Dunny Buddy picks up the Best New Product/Accessory gong in the 2022 caravancampingsales Innovation Awards, which are designed to recognize and reward advancements in the areas of technology, design, quality and safety throughout the Australian RV industry.

“In an RV market awash with gimmicks and gadgets reputedly designed to make camping easier, the Dunny Buddy stands out as a no-brainer for throwing in a corner of the car or camper, ready for whenever you’re caught short when touring around,” said caravancampingsales’ editor and Innovation Awards judge Chris Fincham.

“It’s quite clear a lot of thought and testing has gone into the Dunny Buddy, and the result is something that not only looks good, is lightweight and easy to store but does exactly what it says on the box in being dead-easy to use while protecting your valuable bog paper in all conditions,” he said.

“The icing on the cake is it’s relatively affordable for an Australian designed and built product, and feels solidly constructed so should pay off over many years of rough treatment and tough camping excursions and road trips.”

The Dunny Buddy was a narrow winner in the Best New Product/Accessory category, with most judges ranking it highly among the six finalists.

Not far behind in judges' votes was the Fin Campers campervan conversion kits which Innovation Awards judge Rod Chapman described as “a simple, low-cost alternative to the complex job of campervan conversion”.

In third place was the latest range of air frame tents from Dometic.

“Everyone is going camping now, but the task of assembling tent and poles puts many people off. Inflatable tents are the way to go and with a premium brand like Dometic now embracing them, it could make all the difference for tent-doubters,” Innovation Awards judge Michael Browning commented.

Other finalists in the Best New Product/Accessory category were the Crosswing ‘3 second’ pull-out awning, Zippet premium dog restraint system and the portable, all-in-one Q-Box Camping Module.

The other category winners in the 2022 caravancampingsales Innovation Awards were the Harvok Suit of Armour (Best New RV), Laveo Dry Flush (Best New Technology), and RV Safe (Best New Safety Feature).
