Dual-cab camper on its way

Queensland-based Travelander has responded to the increasing popularity of dual-cab utilities by introducing a new tray back camper designed specifically for these family-friendly workhorses.

The dual-cab, slide-on campers will be very similar in specification to Travelander’s existing, award-winning single-cab camper (pictured); the major difference being the dual-cab will only have room to fit one, instead of two, fridge/freezers.

Dimensions are similar to the single-cab, although the dual-cab will be shorter in length (1800mm versus 2450mm) due to the dual cabs’ shorter trays.

The Travelander campers are designed to fit a range of popular dual-cab utilities including Mitsubishi Triton, Toyota HiLux, Nissan Navara, Holden Colorado, and Isuzu D-Max.

Darren Hoger from Travelander said the company had previously offered a dual-cab camper about six years ago. “There wasn’t so much demand back then but there is now, because there are so many dual-cabs and space-cabs on the market now,” he explained.

The hard-floor, side folding campers are ideal for those who want to tow a boat while camping, or simply stop at the side of the road and prepare lunch or set up for the night without having to unhook a boat.

The first dual-cab prototype will be located on Queensland's Sunshine Coast from next month and will be on display at all major RV shows around Australia in 2011.  Delivery of the first production versions begin in January.

The dual-cab campers will be available in Standard and Premium variants, priced from approximately $20,000, or $400 less than the single-cab campers.
