Driverless electric motorhome future predicted

RV giant envisages driverless road trips with space-age electric motorhome concept

What will motorhomes, or indeed caravan rigs look and function like in 2030 and beyond?

Who knows, but German RV giant Erwin Hymer Group has had a crack at looking into the crystal ball of future RV mobility with its space-age Hymer Concept Galileo.

As you can see in the video below, the Hymer Concept Galileo blends motorhome and apartment living in a futuristic vehicle that envisages both autonomous driving and electric battery powered motivation.

The modular EV platform would allow a customised body to be placed on top to meet the buyer's wishes, and with no steering wheel or dashboard required, there's more living space inside for lounges, bunks, kitchens and other comfort items.

The German company also sees the Hymer Concept Galileo as a future rental motorhome, where buyers can specify which motorhome 'body' will be secured on the EV platform before heading off on holidays...
