Dream prize delivered at Expo
$192,000 Nissan Patrol and Lotus Caravan prize to be driven away at new Explore Australia Expo in MelbourneThe official hand-over of one of Australia’s richest RV prizes is set to take place at the inaugural Explore Australia Expo, which runs from June 20-22 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
The lucky winner of the 2014 Pat Callinan 4x4/Carsales.com.au Ultimate Adventure Pack competition, Mark Carthy of Bayswater, Victoria, won’t have to travel too far to pick up the dream rig, which comprises a new Nissan V8 Patrol and Lotus Trooper off-road caravan, as well as off-road accessories from Ray’s Outdoors and ARB.
The winner was drawn on April 9 from more than 200,000 entries. Upon hearing the news from Pat Callinan by phone, Carthy’s immediate reply was “This is a prank call, isn’t it?” Later, once he’d gathered his thoughts he confessed: “That’s awesome, fantastic. I’m a bit awestruck to be honest”.
When asked by Callinan what he planned to do with the luxurious off-road set-up, he simply replied: “Take off!” He also noted the timing was particularly good as he was looking to buy a new 4x4 vehicle and had been seriously considering escaping the rat race by embarking on an off-road adventure…
Pat Callinan says he’s planning another mega giveaway, which is expected to kick off later this year to coincide with Season 7 of the TV series, so stay tuned.
