RV accessories giant Dometic has introduced to Australia its latest 2.6kVa generator and invertor kit for caravans and motorhomes.
Fitted with a pure sine wave invertor and running off unleaded petrol, the Dometic Tec 29 is designed to deliver reliable 240V power when camping off the grid.
Powered by a Honda GX180 engine, the Tec 29 offers 2600W continuous and 2900kW peak output. Dometic says the generator rpm adjusts to the load applied, with a maximum of 1.2 litres per hour. It comes with either a 15 or 20 litre fuel tank.
The Tec 29 will charge up batteries when off the grid, as well as power a range of 240V appliances including air-conditioners and kitchen gadgets.
The main unit weighs 44kg and is housed in a stainless steel cabinet measuring 580mm wide x 290mm high x 385mm deep. It's designed to be mounted in an external locker or under the floor of a caravan or motorhome with external ventilation required.
It's reasonably quiet and smooth for a generator thanks to anti-vibration engine mounts and a 54dB operating noise, while an external display panel means the generator can be operated remotely from inside the van. It’s designed to work in temperatures ranging from -15 to 50 degrees Celcius.
The Dometic Tec 29 has a RRP of $4750, and is likely to be offered by a number of caravan manufacturers including Melbourne's Royal Flair.
