Cutting-edge 16ft aluminium monocoque caravans unveiled

Couple and family versions of compact new Harvok Suit of Armour-AI off-grid vans arrive in Australia, priced from $84,990

After some delays the latest, potentially game-changing range of Harvok aluminium monocoque caravans has arrived down under, including a brand-new single axle 16ft variant to go with the latest 19ft 6in tandem axle Suit of Armour AI models.

Available in both couple and family layouts, the more compact 16ft Suit of Armour-AI off-grid van is built in Harvok's Chinese factory using its latest 'rust and leak-free' body and chassis construction, which consists of a full aluminium robotically seam welded caravan body mounted to a hot-dipped galvanised steel chassis, together with aluminium framework, expanded polyurethane foam insulation and a one-piece honeycomb floor.

Like the latest 19ft 16in AI model, the new 16ft Harvok off-road van benefits from a range of MY24 upgrades across the Suit of Armour range, including a new light grey exterior finish and cleaner rear wall 'cut-out', Cruisemaster XT coil suspension with a DO-35 coupling and 12in electric drum brakes, 'bug proof' exterior lighting and Aussie Traveller midge-proof windows and security entry door.

Like the latest 19ft 6in aluminium monocoque Harvok vans, the new 16ft model also gets an IP67-rated, chassis-mounted 10kWh 48V lithium battery pack as standard, along with a 48V 3000W inverter and 800W rooftop solar.

Inside, there are more premium appliances fitted as standard including a Dometic 200L fridge-freezer and cassette toilet, Telair rooftop air conditioner, Camec microwave, Robam twin hob induction cooktop, and Fusion audio system.

Two 16ft layouts are available, with the couple's floorplan incorporating an east-west double bed up front, and a spacious, leather-upholstered club lounge-dinette at the rear that converts to another bed. There's also a side kitchen and a large combination shower/toilet, as well as various cupboards and drawers throughout the van, and some underbed storage.

The family layout is a bit different in that it has a smaller corner lounge/dinette opposite two bunk beds that are suitable for smaller children.

As well as the benefits of a 'leak free' robot welded aluminium body, the new 16ft full-height Harvok off-grid, off-road vans come in with a reasonably light Tare weight of around 2200kg to go with a 2800kg ATM.

The new aluminium monocoque version of the 19ft 6in Harvok Suit of Armour is also about 400kg lighter than the previous steel version, with a starting Tare weight of 2479kg together with a ball weight at Tare of 155kg and an ATM of 3500kg.

Both couple and family versions of the 16ft and the 19ft 6in couple's van are available for viewing at Harvok's Dandenong South, Victoria facility, while Harvok has also released video footage of the new 19ft 6in van's first 'shakedown' run in Victoria.

Pricing currently starts at $84,990 for the 16ft model, with the 19ft 6in couple and family AI models starting at $94,990, although Harvok says these prices are for a limited time only.
