Residents at a number of over-50s lifestyle resorts can now reduce the cost of their next RV holiday, with the introduction of a novel discount scheme that allows them to rent out brightly coloured Jayco luxury motorhomes at cut-price rates.
Lifestyle resort developer GemLife says the new 'Explore by GemLife' program is an Australia-first initiative that allows residents to hit the open road regularly, without the costs associated with owning and storing their own caravan or motorhome.
GemLife is kicking off the program with five Jayco Conquest DX motorhomes available across its south east Queensland and Victorian resorts, with plans to extend its cheap rental RV fleet at new resorts to be built along the east coast over the next two years.
One motorhome will be based at each resort and is available exclusively for homeowners to
hire at $130-$150 per night, well below the typical market rate, and conveniently located for pick-up and drop-off.
To make them stand out each GemLife motorhome features a commissioned illustration by international artist Owen Gatley promoting an iconic Australian destination, including the Great Ocean Road, Daintree Rainforest, Glass House Mountains and Nitmiluk National Park.
Each Jayco motorhome is well equipped for luxury road travel with a spacious living area thanks to an electric slide-out, and comes with a double bed, ensuite with separate shower, washing machine and kitchen with gas cooktop, grill, oven and microwave. Extras fitted include premium leather seats, water filter, barbeque and solar panels.
“A lot of residents own motorhomes or caravans but haven’t been on the road as much as
they expected, while others like the idea of owning an RV but have hesitated because they’re unsure if they will use it enough to justify the cost and ongoing maintenance," GemLife CEO Adrian Puljich said.
“We devised Explore by GemLife to solve that issue, giving residents the option to sell their
existing motorhome if they wish, knowing they’ll be able to hit the road when they want and
continue to enjoy the lifestyle they desire.”
GemLife currently has two resorts on the Sunshine Coast along with a resort at Bribie Island, Highfields near Toowoomba and Woodend in Victoria. A further five resorts are currently being developed, with more in the pipeline, across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
