Windsor creates cut-price Mercedes campervan

New Sprinter-based Windsor Brighton camper offers enticing value at $79,990

A new budget-priced, entry-level Windsor motorhome from Brisbane's Apollo Tourism group is set to enter the market, aimed at first-time RV travellers as well as those looking for a daily driver cum week-end getaway machine.

Advertised as "arriving shortly" at Windsor dealerships, the new Windsor Brighton campervan would boost the Queensland-built Windsor motorised RV range to five models, if you also count the Iveco-based Platinum Series.

With a pricetag of $79,990 (drive-away), the Windsor Brighton campervan is $47,000 less than Windsor's current cheapest motorhome, the now $126,990 Renault-based Windsor Daintree, although it misses out on a few desirable features fitted to its 650mm longer sibling like an internal ensuite and air-conditioner.

Mercedes-based Brighton is advertised at just $79,990 driveaway

Based on the refined Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 314 RWD MWB platform with 105kW/330Nm, 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and seven-speed automatic transmission, the 5.93m long Windsor Brighton features a bare-bones but relatively well equipped fit-out for the price including kitchenette with two burner cooktop, sink with mixer tap, 109 litre compressor fridge, rangehood and microwave, with rear bench seating and an adjustable dining table that converts to a 1900mm x 1720mm double bed.

The B-class motorhome also gets a basic 100Ah battery system with charger and 170W rooftop solar panel, 4kg gas bottle and 55 litre fresh and 55 litre grey water storage, interior and exterior LED lighting, electrical sockets, a roof hatch, window curtains and blinds, and some storage areas around the kitchen as well as under the rear seats.

Windsor Brighton gets all the campervan basics except for an internal shower/toilet

The 2770mm high campervan (with 1920mm interior height) offers seatbelts for two passengers, and a payload of up to 910kg thanks to its car licence-friendly 3355kg GVM.
