Sydney's Cub Campers is releasing a new Australian-built, entry-level 'forward fold' tent trailer at the Let’s Go Brisbane Caravan & Outdoor Sale which runs October 29 to November 1 at the Brisbane Showgrounds.
Priced from $29,995, the new Cub Campers Scout costs significantly less than Cub's first family-friendly, forward-fold camper, the off-road spec Frontier introduced in 2016, which currently retails for around $40,000 but includes more features including off-road coil suspension as standard.
The new Scout brings Cub's fully Australian-built range of camper trailers to 10, after the introduction earlier this year of the range-topping, six-berth Drifter II 'double fold’ model.
In a media release, Cub says the new Scout is one of the "lightest forward fold camper trailers on the market", boasting a fully-loaded ATM of 1500kg.
"With a tare weight of 1113kg and a ball weight of just 105kg, the Scout is the perfect family camper for the small-medium SUV owner looking to head out for a beach getaway," the Sydney manufacturer says.
The Cub Scout can sleep two adults and two children under canvas, on a permanent 1960mm x 1500mm double bed and lounge-dinette area that converts to another bed.
The Cub Scout also comes with a slide-out external stainless steel kitchen with three burner stove, sink and LED lighting as standard, along with a 100 litre freshwater tank, 12V water pump and water gauge, Wax Converters roof canvas and awning, galvanized chassis and AL-KO leaf spring suspension with shock absorbers, 10in electric brakes and 50mm off-road ball coupling, a front stone guard, fridge box and slide, 100Ah battery and charger, LED lighting and a number of internal/external electrical sockets.
A long list of options are available including a second battery and water tank.
Meanwhile, the 52-year old Sydney company is the latest Australian RV manufacturer to sign up to the 'Australia Made' campaign, after Cub announced earlier this month it will pay an annual licensing fee for the right to put the official 'Australian Made and Owned' sticker on each of its fully locally-built campers.
