Cub Campers has come up with a family-friendly, hard-floor camper trailer that sleeps two adults and two children in the main body, leaving the fold-down hard floor traditionally used for additional bedding free for other uses.
The innovative 'Spacevan-4-kids' design is based on Cub Campers’ existing Spacevan model "but with a completely different layout designed specifically with families in mind", explained Cub Campers’ Russell Wood.
"It’s still got the double bed in the main body, and adds a double bunk. It can also come with an optional off-the shelf sofa which can be used as another double bed," he said.
The downside is that it will only be available with the outside (rather than inside) kitchen, although a 90-litre fridge can still be fitted inside.
The additional bunk bed means that set-up time for sleeping four will be dramatically reduced as additional beds don’t have to be set up on the lower-level hard floor or in an attached annexe as is usually the case when using hard-floor camper trailers.
"You can fold (the camper) down with the beds made up, and that’s the beauty of it… you can put the kids into bed two minutes after you start setting your camper up," he said.
Like other Cub Campers Spacevan variants, the Spacevan-4-kids will be available in on-road, light off-road and full off-road specifications. Pricing will range from $19,990 for the standard, on-road package to around $40,000 for the fully optioned, off-road versions.
Cub Campers is currently taking orders for the new model, with a Spacevan-4-kids camper on display at its Pendle Hill, Sydney head office.
The new family camper will also be on display at the Cub Campers stand at the Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow at Caulfield Racecourse in Melbourne on March 10-15.
