Crusader Caravans’ sales and marketing manager, Max Mayo, said the new 18ft internal length, rear ensuite model, dubbed the Weekend Warrior, has been released onto the market “at the lowest price possible”.
"Once the market finds out what you get for their money, we predict that the Weekend Warrior will become our best selling caravan ever," Mayo said.
Construction is traditional timber frame with ribbed aluminium sides and some checker plate, plus a one-piece fibreglass roof, one-piece floor and aluminium composite panels for the front and rear walls. The 4in steel chassis rides on eye-to-eye leaf suspension, with 15in alloy wheels and 10in electric brakes.
Despite a load of standard equipment including separate shower and toilet with ceramic bowl, queen size bed with innerspring mattress, 100Ah deep cycle battery and battery charger, reverse cycle air-conditioner, 22in TV/DVD and Bluetooth audio system, 150 litre fridge/freezer, microwave, four-burner cooktop/grille and a 9kg gas bottle, pricing for the tandem axle van begins at a Jayco-like $45,000.
Crusader says the new, dirt-cheap model has a Tare weight of around 1880kg, ball weight (Tare) of around 120kg, and a Prado-friendly ATM of up to 2500kg.
