This is one caravan you wouldn’t mind getting stuck behind in busy traffic!
Innovative Melbourne manufacturer Crusader Caravans has done it again, giving its popular Excalibur luxury touring model a rear exterior treatment unlike any other.
As part of a series of 2015 updates across its range, the Excalibur caravan now comes with a new, fibreglass rear mould that incorporates two lockers as well as some stunning graphics.
Many caravans offer side access to a rear tunnel locker, but Crusader has decided instead to provide rear access to two external hatches, via three separate doors.
The top one, above the high-mounted tail-lights, looks a bit of a stretch to get to, but the bottom two, side-hinging doors open up to reveal a space big enough to store a spare tyre and various other gear.
Crusader says the fibreglass back, finished in a UV stable gel coat, is light and strong thanks to the enviro-friendly RTM (resin transfer moulding) process used.
And if the bloodthirsty medieval battle scene isn’t quite your thing, the company is working on other imaging options for the removable vinyl wrap that covers the two lower doors.
The 2015 Excalibur caravan also features a new design front, with two doors for the front boot, although there are plans to replace this with an RTM fibreglass moulded front later in 2015.
Inside, you'll find the popular ‘grey nomad’ layout of front bed/rear ensuite, together with an upmarket gloss white/black décor and all the luxuries you’d expect in a $70,000-plus caravan.
The Excalibur will be on display at the Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow from February 11-16.
