Crusader Caravans up for sale
Battling Melbourne caravan manufacturer seeks buyer after placed in voluntary administration last monthA Melbourne manufacturer that hit the headlines last year after one of its caravans was caught with a rego plate illegally placed too high, is seeking a buyer to rescue the business from collapse.
Advisory and investment firm KordaMentha was last month appointed the voluntary administrator of Crusader Caravans, which was established over 10 years ago by company director Sergio Valentino.
Crusader is reported to have debts of around $4 million. However, the administrators said approximately 100 orders on the company's books will be fulfilled as well as warranties honoured as a buyer is sought to keep the company trading.
KordaMentha’s Rahul Goyal said he “is confident that the business will be sold as a going concern as Crusader Caravans is an iconic brand that builds quality caravans”.
“Any customer that is looking to purchase a new caravan should place their order. In the unlikely event that Crusader Caravans is unable to deliver a caravan, the dealer will return their deposit,” he said.
In mid-2015 Crusader was forced to deal with the fallout after the owner of one of its caravans was fined $415 and three demerit points by NSW police for having an incorrectly-positioned rego plate.
Known for its
attention-grabbing designs as well as quality manufacturing, the family owned and operated business employed 60 people as of last month and offers 18 models, with dealers in Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and NSW.
