Crusader builds American dealer network

Aussie caravan manufacturer makes serious moves to crack potentially lucrative US market

Crusader Caravans is making a big move to expand its US market presence.

After dipping its toes in the North American RV market a couple of years ago, the big-selling Melbourne manufacturer has kicked off a dealer recruitment drive across six states to try and build a national sales network under the Dreamhaven RV brand.

Crusader says its so-called Mountain Time Zone Dealer Recruitment tour in Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico and Colorado, is "designed to give qualified dealers an exclusive first look at Dreamhaven’s U.S.-bound lineup and build the brand’s inaugural North American retail network".

Crusader is initially offering just two of its smaller hybrid models to American buyers -- the Chameleon and Gladiator Force -- which are being marketed under the Dreamhaven banner (a name it's also using for its new range of entry-level 'vans in Australia.)

“This U.S. launch has been a passion project in the making for nearly three years," said Summer Salvato, who until recently worked at Kokoda Caravans and is now Crusader's head of special projects and development.

"After spending more than five years working across all major departments in high-end off-road and off-grid RV manufacturing in Australia, it’s incredibly exciting to finally introduce Dreamhaven to the U.S. market,” said Salvato, who lived in the US for many years before settling down under.

The American-spec Dreamhaven RV models are ready to go, having achieved full certification from peak US body, the RV Industry Association (RVIA).

"Dreamhaven fills a much-needed gap in the American overlanding market, and we’re looking forward to building our dealer network from the ground up," she said.

Stateside, the Crusader's North American expansion is being led by two experienced RV industry executives, Lindsey Stults and Roy Carter.

Crusader is one of a handful of Australian RV manufacturers attempting to crack the potentially lucrative US market, with both Urban and Titanium Caravans recently making their North American debut at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.
