Brisbane’s Cruisemaster has introduced a new sixth generation of its popular XT coil independent suspension called XT Freestyle.
Available with King coil spring or Firestone airbag suspension, the new Cruisemaster XT Freestyle suspension features numerous refinements to the rugged Cruisemaster off-road suspension found under many of Australia’s premium off-road caravans.
Among the improvements is a one-piece reinforcement plate under the stub axle of all XT Freestyle systems that has increased the suspension’s maximum ATM rating from 4450kg to 4500kg for tandem kits.
While new one-piece brackets for the custom tuned G35 or HD G40 gas shock absorbers and flanged bolts and nuts are said to achieve more consistent clamping.
The new XT Freestyle also benefits from a new cable management system that includes more efficient routing of hand brake cables and a system to secure electrical and other conduits safely out of stone harm’s way.
Cruisemaster says the XT Freestyle suspension also allows for a much faster upgrade from electric drum to more powerful Cruisemaster disc brakes, thanks to a modified mounting platform common to both systems.
The suspension arms are also available in a range of powder-coated colours to suit individual caravan manufacturers.
Other XT Freestyle features carried over from the fifth generation XT suspension include:
An A-Frame arm design made from Australian steel with laser cut joins and robot welding
Five levels of air control to complement the suspension’s airbag systems
Greaseable suspension bushes
Adjustable toe and camber
Choice of Cruisemaster A/T, Dexter or AL-KO electric brakes
A range of stud patterns and drum spigots to facilitate matching wheels with most common tow vehicles
