Russia is known for its vodka, Olympic gymnasts and, now it seems, radical off-road vehicles...
Called the Sherpa ATV, this ugly duckling features self-inflated tyres that are 1.6 metres tall, it's powered by a Kubota diesel -- and it can float!
In the water, the Sherp ATV's tyres act as paddles and can propel it at up to 6km/h. And as you can see in the video below, even broken ice on a frozen lake can't stop it.
The beast can climb over obstacles the size of small refrigerators, and it go as fast in reverse as it can go forwards.
Its critical dimensions are: Overall length of 3.4 metres, height of 2.3 metres, track of 2.53 metres and weight of 1300kg.
With independent braking on each wheel, the Sherp ATV can turn on its own length, which taken together with its other features, makes it an interesting option when you need to get around in an extreme environment.
From the looks of Sherpa's website, it appears that the truck will be primarily geared for hunters and fisherman.
No word of them coming to Australia but if you really want one, they are available in Russia for $US65,000.
