New on the Coromal stand at last week’s South Australian Caravan and Camping Show was a rough-road version of the West Australian brand’s popular F Series family vans.
Designed for families on tighter budgets who want to venture off the beaten track, the new off-road series of vans features insulated, bonded and riveted aluminium wall construction along with a full length, Supagal high-tensile box chassis.
Soaking up the bumps is an independent Symons ‘knee joint’ suspension, and the van rides on 15inch CSA alloy wheels with 4WD Bridgestone tyres.
On display at the show was a 20ft long F616 model, which featured a family-friendly layout including rear queen-sized bed, kitchen and L-shaped dinette in the middle, and a shower/toilet and bench lounge that converts to two bunk beds towards the front.
Features fitted included a roll out awning, gas/electric hot water service, microwave, four gas burner cooker and gas grille, solid ply benchtops, 150 litre fridge, high density foam and thick fabrics, and large boot locker. The Tare weight was 1860kg.
Normally priced from $42,900, the display model included the optional Wineguard aerial, air conditioning and XC (cross country) pack, to bring it up to the show special price of $49,800 tow away.
