Cool new campers for Sydney 4WD show

Family-friendly roof tent and bespoke Aussie hybrid among fresh metal at annual off-road show

The world's largest hardtop roof tent, a trick new toy hauler and a unique Aussie hybrid, are among a wide variety of campers and caravans on display at the 2025 Sydney 4WD and Adventure Show, running from September 12-14 at the Sydney Dragway at Eastern Creek.

Recently landing down under, the Roof Space 4 side-fold model is being spruiked as the "world’s largest family size four-person rooftop tent", and comes with novel features including a 'Double Panorama Mode' that turns the family-friendly tent structure into an open-top, stand-up platform.

Other attractive features include the '60-second' single-flip set-up, a 205cm x 200cm foam mattress and internal storage, LED lighting, a quick-release ladder, panoramic mosquito net and polyester ripstop tent material.

Weighing in at around 90kg, the German-designed and engineered Roof Space 4 measures 221cm long, 136cm wide, and 24cm high when closed, and 250cm long, 210cm wide, and up to 130cm high when opened up for camping. The current online price for Australia is $7500.

'Ducks Nuts' camper heads to Sydney

Also worth checking out at the annual Sydney 4WD show is the latest DN5 off-grid hybrid pop-top camper built by Jindera NSW-based FSC Off Road (formerly Free Spirit Campers).

Joining a select group of premium six-figure priced homegrown hybrids, the new FSC DN5 couple's camper is built from the ground-up for rugged off-grid adventures with a bespoke hot dip galvanised chassis, airbag suspension, and full composite construction including insulated sandwich panels, aluminium cabinetry and a unique nose cone and chassis stone deflectors, complete with rubberised protection.

The 5.3m long (overall) and 1.9m wide DN5 pop-top boasts a big outside kitchen, along with a very usable interior layout including a north-south bed, bench seating, shower and toilet, and an internal sink, benchtop and lots of storage.

With an (empty) Tare weight starting at 1340kg (ATM is 2200kg) and plenty of water and off-grid power (up to 300 litres water storage, 1075W rooftop solar and 630Ah lithium batteries are available), the DN5 (Ducks Nuts) camper is priced from $108,600 on the FSC Off Road website.

Tommy trayback cruises in

For those looking for a quality trayback camper, Ballarat, Victoria-based Tommy Campers is also set to display its latest S6X slide-on campers at the Sydney show, most likely mounted to the back of LandCruiser 79 Series utes.

Designed for a range of extra-cab and dual-cab utes, the Tommy S6X slide-ons are constructed from 3mm thick aluminium and priced from $21,825.

The Tommy Campers' display vehicles are kitted up with the latest gear including Redarc electronics, a Bushwakka 270 awning and shower tent, along with Tommy's optional colour-coded undertray box.

If lightweight towable campers are more your style, Hardkorr Campers is also down as an exhibitor and is likely to have its latest toy-hauler camper on display, while Queensland's Bushtracker is also displaying some of its latest top-shelf off-road caravans.

Among the 2025 show 'vans from the Kunda Park, Queensland manufacturer is a big-ticket, tandem axle 19ft model that's loaded up with Cruisemaster BCS airbag suspension, an electric jack, diesel heater, extra-large tunnel boot, a powered awning, twin TVs, induction cooktop, coffee machine, 4-in-1 oven, stone benchtops, a 224L compressor fridge, wall-mounted washer, composting toilet and heated towel rail.

All up, close to 40 RV brands covering camper trailers, hybrids, campervans, slide-ons and caravans will be exhibiting at the Sydney 4x4 show. Tickets costing $22 (adults), $18 (concession), and $12 (children), are available either at the gate or online.
