Conqueror UEV-600E 2026 Review

It looks tough as nails but how does this feature-packed, circa $90K off-road pop-top shape up for your next Outback adventure?

Single-axle pop-top hybrids with an ATM around 2.8-3.0 tonnes have become a regular part of the Australian RV landscape. Most are made in China, with an often cookie-cutter feel about them.

Yes, the UEV-600E is made in China too, but Conqueror has a much deeper story than the average hybrid importer.

conqueror uev 600 19

Conqueror is a global brand with distribution in South Africa, North America, Europe and, of course, Australia. Its origins go back more than 30 years, when Conquerors were first developed for military use in South Africa.

That brief shaped everything, with a dependable, go-anywhere approach being a non-negotiable, along with quick to pack up functionality for rapid departures, and that DNA still runs through Conqueror today.

It shows in the way the UEV-600E wears its utilitarian function and overland attitude on the outside. It’s not like your typical imported hybrid, with a more hardcore expedition camper edge and just the right amount of creature comforts.

The “E” in UEV-600E designates it as the full electric version (gasless), which elevates its premium position.

Who is the Conqueror UEV-600E aimed at?

The Conqueror UEV-600E is aimed squarely at couples who favour off-road travel and still see camp as something to be set up outside, with the best living space under the awning.

It’s a logical step up for camper trailer owners who still desire remote-camp practicality, but yearn for a few more comforts like an internal toilet/shower, proper mattress and serious off-grid power.

conqueror uev 600 213

But it's more hardcore than a conventional single-axle caravan and, despite key creature comforts, it’s utilitarian throughout. So you get less lounge space and gloss, and more of an emphasis on practical things like storage access and adjustable ride height.

The whole layout assumes you'll cook, sit and live outside the 'van rather than in it. Yes, you can retreat indoors during inclement weather, but buyers wanting an apartment-style caravan should look elsewhere.

What’s the Conqueror UEV-600E like inside?

The manual pop-top roof pushed up surprisingly easily, considering the weight on top, while the soft wall section has ample zippered windows for plenty of ventilation and natural light.

The layout is simple: king bed up front, cosy bench seating in conjunction with a pull-out table in the middle, and, across the rear, a fridge, sink and combination shower and toilet.

conqueror uev 600 249

The bed is the standout: at 2030mm x 1830mm, it gives both occupants proper room and avoids the 'climb-over' compromise of east-west beds found in smaller hybrids. A clever hidden fold-out step makes accessing the elevated bed easy.

The dining table is also hidden, and surprisingly large when fully extended. However, partially extending the table gives you more room to move around in the compact living space.

It’s the ideal space for a quick meal, coffee stop or laptop session, rather than a place you would lounge for hours.

conqueror uev 600 122

At first glance, it appears there's modest storage, but when you look around its everywhere. The two drawers running under the bed are humungous. The zippered pantry that can be accessed from the bed or externally is equal parts fun and function.

Good-sized cupboards under the kitchen bench and rear sink get the job done, along with a handy wall pocket.

The kitchen bench is very workable as it has neither a cooktop nor a sink competing for space. A portable induction cooktop is an easy thing to bring along when forced indoors.

conqueror uev 600 175

A microwave is optional, but our review 'van didn’t have one and the empty space looked a bit unfinished. I would be slipping one in there if it was mine.

The 76L compressor fridge is handy to have inside, with another 82L unit outside.

The ensuite is a major step up from the portable arrangements many camper-trailer owners will be used to, and includes a shower, cassette toilet, vanity storage, mirror and exhaust fan.

conqueror uev 600 238

Comfort control is at your fingertips with a full arsenal of twin fans, a roof-mounted air-conditioner and diesel heating.

Convenience is also at your fingertips with a bank of controls just inside the entry door, including power management, user-friendly light switches, sound system and controls for the diesel heater.

And bench-mounted twin phone charging pads take convenience to another level.

What’s the Conqueror UEV-600E like outside?

Outside is where the UEV-600E really stands out. The Conqueror pop-top sports a prominent “Military Tough” decal near the main door, and it does look the part with its exposed aluminium frame and fasteners.

The external kitchen is the centrepiece of the 'van. The system sits on two separate slides and has copious drawers.

conqueror uev 600 115

The first slide is bursting with functionality; upfront are twin wash basins and a hot/cold mixer tap. There’s also an upper drawer with bowls, glasses and a lower drawer with cutlery and utensils.

The contents, all supplied as part of the package, are nicely nested to withstand the rigours of bumpy travel. The front slide also houses the 82L dual-zone fridge/freezer.

The second slide has a couple more empty drawers to store pots and pans, and above that is a stainless steel work surface with a built-in twin-hob induction cooker. Above the slide is that clever pantry that can be accessed from either outside or inside the 'van.

conqueror uev 600 107

A drop-down picnic table reveals a compartment for storing condiments/bottles, complete with restraints to keep contents in place.

And when you want a bigger outside table, there’s one mounted on the front wall above the toolbox. Athletic types will have no trouble accessing it, but some people will find it difficult.

conqueror uev 600 129

The front and rear folding 180-degree awning provides great coverage and takes a familiar user two or three minutes to set up and pack up.  The optional Fiamma electric awning is even quicker but provides substantially less coverage and is perhaps not as robust.

The toolbox contains a diesel tank and the controls to raise and lower the 'van via the suspension airbags.

conqueror uev 600 146

In this all-electric model, you get the bonus of a freed-up storage compartment where gas bottles would otherwise go. The driver's side contains two more storage compartments with a handy drawer in one and a massive slide in the other; great for storing bulky items like camp chairs.

When sometimes you feel they're just for decoration on the rear, I suspect Conqueror owners will put the twin jerry cans, recovery tracks and spare wheel-mounted stainless-steel BBQ to good use.

How is the Conqueror UEV-600E built?

The tough exterior look is backed by a clearly off-road-focused construction.

The body uses five-layer aluminium composite panels with an aluminium box-section frame and aluminium exoskeleton reinforcement.

The pop-top roof also features an aluminium frame with fibreglass outer, while the floor is composite. The cabinetry is aluminium/composite rather than timber.

conqueror uev 600 169

Underneath is a hot-dip galvanised steel chassis and a unique Conqueror-designed independent trailing arm suspension with anti-roll bars for greater stability. Other premium suspension bits include remote height-adjustable airbags and twin Ironman foam-filled shock absorbers.

An impressive design detail is the well-protected routing of plumbing and electrical lines through holes in the running gear, rather than just clipping them to the underside of the chassis.

conqueror uev 600 124

The rolling stock is also serious, with 16in alloys and 285/75 R16 mud-terrain tyres. Electric drum brakes and a trailer breakaway system are fitted, while Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control is optional.

What’s the Conqueror UEV-600E like off-grid?

Off-grid capability is one of the 'van’s strongest cards. A “non E” UEV-600 comes with a decent Baintech 300Ah lithium battery, 700W of solar, a Redarc 50A charging system and a Redarc 2000W inverter.

conqueror uev 600 230

A regular 'E' model (sans gas bottles) doubles the battery capacity to 600Ah and adds a couple of 100W portable blankets, plus it gets an upgraded Redarc 75A charging system and Redarc 3000W inverter.

Our review 'van goes all out, optioning the battery bank up to 900Ah along with a Redarc 100A charging system for serious off-grid capability.

conqueror uev 600 165

Front and rear Anderson inputs are a practical touch to enable you to chase the sun with the portable panels while the 'van stays in shade.

Hot water and space heating come from the Truma Combi D6 diesel system.

Water storage is also up there, with 240L of fresh water split across two tanks and an 80L grey water tank. Two 20L rear-mounted jerries and a creek-draw system provide real autonomy.

Emptying the cassette toilet will be the first thing to send you back to civilisation, so those committed to extended stays should consider the optional Compo Closet Cuddy composting toilet.

conqueror uev 600 152

What are the Conqueror UEV-600E's towing numbers?

The UEV-600E has a listed tare of 2350kg and ATM of 3000kg, providing a 650kg payload before options, water and personal gear.

Combined with a travel length of 6650mm, 2650mm height and 2400mm width, it's fairly big and heavy for a serious expedition vehicle. If you want all the conveniences that come with this 'van, that’s the price you pay.

It’s worth noting that this UEV-600 is the biggest vehicle in the Conqueror line-up, so if you're after something more nimble there are plenty of options.

conqueror uev 600 104

Should I buy a Conqueror UEV-600E?

The Conqueror UEV-600E will make the most sense to adventurous couples who appreciate the overlander philosophy and like to spend more time outside than inside. It's also for buyers who want enough power and water to stay off-grid without constantly rationing every amp and litre.

Sharp pricing and a king bed, internal ensuite, excellent external kitchen, timber-free construction, serious suspension and a power system that becomes genuinely impressive in its optioned-up format, make for a compelling case.

It is relatively bulky for those looking to get to the trickiest spots, but so are most of the other offerings in this size and specification. In reality, it won’t be an issue for the majority of users, but if you really want to push the boundaries, consider one of Conqueror's smaller offerings.
