Concept campers land in Geelong

New imported hard-floor camper among fresh new products at Geelong lifestyle show

Concept Caravans’ new imported camper trailer range will be on display at this week-end’s Geelong Caravan Camping & Outdoor Living Show in Victoria.

First shown in prototype form at a Franklin factory event in mid-2017, and officially unveiled at the Sydney Caravan Camping Lifestyle Expo in November, the new FX2 forward-fold, hard-floor camper trailer and rear-fold RX2 are the first offerings from ACI, a division of top-5 Australian caravan manufacturer Concept.

According to Concept, the four-berth FX2’s forward-folding design opens out to a 17.8 sqm of living space with up to 2.91 metres of interior height.

Priced from $19,990, standard features on the FX2 camper include a queen-size high-density foam mattress, LED interior lighting, a compartment for an 80-litre fridge, three-burner stove, 60-litre water tank, and mosquito-proof door and window netting with privacy screens.

The close-weave canvas tent section is double stitched at stress points and utilizes reinforced seam taping for extra protection.

The ADR-compliant FX2  is built on a 70 x 50 x3mm RHS hot-dipped, galvanised cross-beam chassis, with 100 x 50 x 3mm galvanised drawbar that extends to 2300mm to make turning and reversing easier.

The steel body is finished in baked enamel with aluminium checker plate protection and it rides on independent trailing arm suspension with dual shocks, 16in alloy wheels, 12in electric brakes and all-terrain tyres.

Other features include a 12-volt electrical control panel with a 100 AH battery and marine grade sockets, galvanised steel poles, four stabiliser legs, two 4.5kg gas cylinders, 2 x 20-litre jerry cans and lockable storage boxes.

Also making its Victorian show debut at the 2018 Geelong Caravan Camping & Outdoor Living Show, which takes place at the Geelong Showgrounds from January 19 to 21, will be the new Auberhalb Firegrill, a clever new lightweight camping grille and bbq that’s designed and built in Australia.

The small, dog-friendly show will also feature products from a number of well-known RV brands including New Age, Track Trailer, Kokoda, Market Direct, Stoney Creek, Cub Campers, Bailey and Supreme.
