The peak body for Australia’s RV manufacturing industry, RVM Australia says it’s on target to complete the roll-out of its RV Manufacturing Accreditation Program (RVMAP this year.
RVM Australia CEO David Duncan said the program, launched last April had completed a scheduled review late last year to further enhance its efficiency and effectiveness.
“The review confirmed that RVMAP is very much what our industry needs, and we have now fine-tuned it,” he said. “Because RVMAP uses digital tablets rather than pen-and-paper, we have been able to incorporate software that makes many of the required calculations automatically.
“This year’s audits include both physical inspections of RVs and desktop audits of members’ quality and compliance systems. This will help to determine the frequency cycle of each Member’s inspections for the future.”
RVM Australia currently has 78 manufacturer members that must comply with the new program, which Duncan said “is a key element of the association’s effort to ensure total industry compliance”.
The industry body claims “90 percent of major RV manufacturers” as members, although most are caravan builders. Currently missing from the membership list are Australia's largest RV manufacturer Jayco, as well as European manufacturers such as Bailey, Swift and Adria, which comprise a fast-growing segment of the Australian market.
Duncan said as an adjunct to the improved compliance program, the RVMAP technical team has also completely overhauled RVM Australia’s Code of Practice, which will be launched in a few weeks.
