Clean green park up for sale
Looking for a spectacular sea change? Carbon-neutral caravan park on picturesque Eyre Peninsula could be yours for less than a million dollarsA small South Australian beachfront caravan park described as the most eco-friendly in Australia’s outback is on the market.
Situated opposite a 300m long solar-lit jetty, the Fowlers Bay Eco Park is on the west side of the picturesque Eyre Peninsula, a 932km drive from Adelaide or 1875km from Perth.
According to the park’s website, it’s the “only environmentally friendly and naturally sustainable caravan park in the Australian outback” and is powered by a “unique hybrid solar system consisting of solar panels, batteries and a back up diesel generator.
“The water is also naturally obtained through rainwater and from a sand dune aquifer that is pumped over 2km to the park by a windmill and solar pump.”
The caravan park is located on 1.25 acres (5000m2) of leased land and consists of 29 powered sites and seven un-powered sites. Also part of the package is a renovated and extended two bedroom house on 1000m2 of freehold land overlooking the bay.
Park features include an ablutions block, laundry facilities, camp kitchen, kiosk, children’s playground, and fish cleaning facilities. Overnight fees for the dog-friendly park are advertised at $30 per site for a couple.
A nature lovers paradise, the region is a popular stop-off for those wanting to catch the Southern Right Whale migration from late May to early October, with two hour whale watching tours available from the park as well as fishing boat trips.
Current owners Rod and Simone Keogh bought the park in 2010 when their daughter Mya was just six weeks old.
Formerly of Western Australia, they share a love of the water, with Simone sailing yachts and spending time in the Navy, while Rod previously worked as an offshore diver and on charter boats.
The couple have made a number of improvements to the park including renovating and extending the kiosk/cafe and building a new elevated viewing deck for guests.
But with their two young daughters now approaching school age, the family has decided to move on and the park is advertised online for $875,000 plus SAV (stock at value).
Offering a “unique lifestyle” to potential buyers, the park is “best suited to a mature or semi-retired couple looking for an amazing sea change”.
