Classic caravans and motorhomes are now appreciating assets as new caravan delivery times stretch out and used vans soar in price to fill the void.
If this was in doubt, the $22,150 paid for a period, unrestored Franklin motorhome built on a 1978 Bedford CF cab/chassis should silence the doubters.
As we reported last month, the motorhome was offered with no reserve at the Shannons Timed Online Winter Auction and was expected to make between $15,000 and $20,000.

But with no reserve price set, it soon surged past expectations.
Based on the once-popular Bedford CF light-commercial platform beloved by soft-serve ice-cream vendors, the campervan is powered by a 173 CID ‘red’ Holden engine and three-speed automatic transmission.

Equipped with a water tank, hot water heater, external shower, 9kg gas bottle, twin petrol tanks and two batteries, it was sold ready to go exploring
In its condition, it represented a leisurely and very social way to tour Australia during COVID times, with its historic Franklin origins making it an instant conversation starter.
