
As comedy duo, Hamish and Andy, bring caravanning into the spotlight with their new program Caravan of Courage: Australia vs New Zealand, leading children’s charity group Variety is gearing up for a Caravan of Courage of its own.
The organiser of Australia’s largest charitable motoring event, the Variety Bash, is hoping to entice RV owners to take part in an eight day, fund raiser that combines a scenic route with a convoy of like-minded travellers.
The 2013 ‘Circle the South’ Variety Green RV Adventure kicks off on February 28 in the coastal town of Yamba in NSW, and ends up on March 9 in the small country town of Nindigully; home of the legendary 148-year-old Nindigully pub.
Along the way participants will travel through picturesque national parks and historic towns, finishing with a project to help children and communities in the Nindigully region.
Variety Queensland CEO, Les Riley, said the 2013 ‘Circle the South’ Variety Green RV Adventure will offer a great way to see some beautiful parts of the country while meeting others with similar interests.
“The trip caters for individuals, families and friends who have a keen sense of adventure and access to a motorhome, campervan or camper trailer,” he said.
Participants are asked to each pay an application fee of $55 per vehicle and are then required to raise a minimum of $1250 which is tax deductible.
Proceeds raised from the inaugural event will assist Queensland children who are sick, disadvantaged or who have special needs.
Over the past 21 years, Variety motoring events, including the Variety Bash, have raised over $20 million for needy kids in Queensland.
