Next month’s Sydney Caravan Supershow will get a dash of Italian pizzaz, with a very chic and very sleek, slide-on camper from Milan-based Mondo Pick-Up on display for the first time Down Under.
Called the Musica, the stylish fibreglass camper is being imported by Sydney-based Bonetti Campers, run by Stefano Bonetti who was previously fleet operations manager at Kea Campers Australia before it was sold to THL in mid-2012.
Bonetti says Mondo Pick-Up, has been around for about eight years and the Musica is a a “new product on the world market.” The boutique brand also produces a camper module for an all-terrain Mercedes-Benz truck.
The fully enclosed Musica camper features an anti-vibration system and monocoque body. Bonetti says it can be fitted to a range of single and space cab utes, but not dual cab utes as it requires a minimum tray length of 140cm.
“Fully equipped like a motorhome”, it can sleep up to four people with a double bed in the cab-over ‘attic’, while the L-shaped couch/dinette can be converted to another double bed for kids.
Being Italian, the interior is a classy affair, with nautical-theme decor, lightweight furniture, and plenty of opportunity to personalise with a range of bright upholstery colours and fancy detailing.
Other unique features include an extendable floor section in the one-piece ABS shower/toilet unit, which slides out to create more room. The camper also has nifty, electronically-operated aluminium legs that fold down from the body using remote control.
Standard features include a hot water system and heating, 110 litre marine fridge, 12V system including two, 100Ah AGM batteries, three burner gas stove, 140 litre water tanks, LED lighting, skylight and roof hatch.
Bonetti Campers will have one model mounted to a Nissan Navara on display in Sydney, with pricing around $75,000 for the top-spec variant.
Boasting high quality construction, clever features and an eye-catching, slippery shape, Bonetti expects the Musica to appeal to ute-owning Aussie campers looking for something different.
“The design is something new, it fits to the (look of the) cars, it’s not just a square box,” he says.
The Musica slide-on joins Maggiolina roof-top tents, as another premium Italian RV offering available in Australia. A wider version of the Musica camper should be available in coming months, to suit bigger utes like Volkswagen Amarok and Ford Ranger.
The NSW Caravan, Camping, RV and Holiday Supershow is one of Australia’s biggest RV shows, and runs from April 20-28 at Rosehill Racecourse.
