Cheaper pricing for Box Campers

New cut-price version of tough pod camper from $33,000

Interested in Box Campers’ rugged off-road ‘pod’ Boss camper but can’t quite stretch to the close to $50,000 price tag?

The Nerang, Queensland-based manufacturer has slashed the drive-away price by almost $15,000 with the introduction of a new lower-spec, entry-level Trojan model.

According to Boss Campers’ founder Kaine Riley, the entry-level Trojan misses out on a few features of the top-spec Boss model,  like the 35 degrees rear departure angle (the Trojan's is a aggressive 25 degrees).

The Trojan also misses out on some of the Boss model’s premium equipment, like the Redarc Manager 30 battery management system, Cruisemaster XT air suspension and full complement of awnings.

Instead, the cheaper Trojan gets a 15A CTEK charger, Cruisemaster XT coil suspension and just the one side awning.

As a result the Trojan has a 50kg lighter Tare than the Boss, at 800kg, with an ATM of 1450kg.

Other than that, the Trojan has similar construction to the Boss, including hot dipped galvanized chassis and composite body construction, and shares many standard features including a DO35 hitch, 120Ah battery, 70 litre water tank, queens mattredd, rear kitchen with two-burner gas stove, stereo unit, 4.5kg gas bottle, 12V water pump and 12V fan.

For an additional $5000 Trojan buyers can purchase an optional ‘Tactical Pack', which includes either 16in or 17in alloy wheels with 33in mud tyres (including spare), Raptor protective coating, a toolbox-mounted firewood rack, pair of MaxTrax and a jerry can and holder.

“Essentially the Trojan is a paired back version with everything you need to get out camping straight away but without any bells and whistles," explained Riley. "Everything is upgradable to more or less be able to bring it up to the Boss spec, minus the airbag suspension and the rear cutaway."
