Opus Australia has introduced a new, entry-level inflatable camper that's around $7500 cheaper and significantly lighter than the original game-changing, self-inflatable models first seen in 2017.
Priced from $22,490, the new Air Opus Lite has a listed Tare of 1100kg, with a ball weight of 105kg and ATM of 1600kg, making it around 300kg lighter (at Tare) than the other two Air Opus campers currently available, and more easily towable by smaller SUVs.
Built in China but with UK and Australian design input, the Air Opus Lite is designed for off-road use with independent trailing arm suspension, off-road polyblock coupling, electric drum brakes, 15in alloy wheels with 235/75R15 mud terrain tyres, a mesh stone guard and two jerry can holders.
It's constructed using a hot dipped galvanised chassis with aluminium composite body panels, while the tent section with innovative inflatable air beams instead of metal poles includes a tropical roof, along with additional annexe, floor and draft skirt attachments.
Opus reckons the camper sets up in 90 seconds, after pushing the button to run the in-built compressor.
The off-the-ground covered area includes a club lounge with portable dining table at one end, and queen size bed with 1800mm x 1600mm memory foam mattress at the other, along with a powered fridge slide, two speaker audio unit, slide-out pantry and other storage areas.
Cooking is outside on a slide-out stainless steel kitchen with sink, four burner gas stove and cutlery drawer.
The Air Opus Lite also comes equipped with two 9kg gas bottle holders, an 80L water tank and 100Ah AGM battery with charger, gas bayonet, USB/12V sockets and a rear tunnel boot for external storage.
It measures 5240mm long by 1670mm wide by 1370mm high when packed up, and is available to order from 10 dealers located around Australia.
